A beautiful antique Japanese blue and white porcelain bowl dating to the Meiji period (circa 1880–1900).
Decorated in rich cobalt underglaze using traditional stencil techniques, the bowl features a continuous repeating floral border around the exterior and a charming interior landscape with birds and botanical motifs. The broad rolled rim and soft ivory glaze create a wonderful contrast against the deep indigo decoration.
These stencil-decorated export wares became popular during the late 19th century and remain highly collectible today for their folk-art charm and timeless aesthetic.
Condition
Very good antique condition with expected age-related wear, kiln and firing imperfections, and light wear to the foot rim. No obvious cracks or repairs observed.
